Frequently Asked Questions

Every year the film fest runs over the last weekend of March. This year it will be March 23 – 25, 2012.

There will be a 7:30pm show on Friday, March 23, another 7:30pm show on Saturday, March 24, and a 2:30pm matinee on Sunday, March 25. It is advisable to be at the theater 30 minutes beforehand, since seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The festival will be held at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, which is at 506 Bloor Street West. The cinema is newly renovated, too!

Tickets for the general population are $20 per night. If you are an Alpine Club of Canada member tickets are $10.

You can purchase tickets online on the Buy Tickets page.

You may also purchase tickets at both Mountain Equipment Co-op in Toronto as well as The Rock Oasis in Toronto.

Probably not.

If tickets are sold out online, and sold out at both MEC and The Rock Oasis, there is a low probability there will be tickets at the door before the show. There is always the chance some get returned at the last minute, however, so the best bet would be to check in prior to the show. However, don't be surprised if there's nothing available.

You must bring your printed receipt to the show. Then you will give you a physical ticket there.

You will not be mailed a physical ticket prior to the show, and you will not be able to pick up tickets prior to an hour before doors open on the day of your show. Neither MEC or The Rock Oasis can redeem online purchases for physical tickets, they will only sell you fresh ones.

If, for some reason, your receipt goes missing en route we do have the ability to look up your name and/or email, but for logistical reasons please make sure to have your printed receipt.

Make sure to keep your ticket stub, as there are door prizes drawn at intermission.

Discounts for large groups are handled on a case by case basis. Please contact us to find out more.

For those who have joined us in the past, there were some issues with the aging facilities and the reliability of the washrooms. With the on-going renovations at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, we have been told that there will be upgrades to all the facilities. Woohoo!

The BMFF World Tour is organized by volunteers who want to watch the films as well. Once the films start we lock the front doors, so try not to be late! However we try to have a person keeping their eye on the front from time to time.

Seating is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and people usually start lining up outside the theatre 30 minutes before the doors open – so get there early!
